There is some hope offered by recent reports of antisera development; however, at this time the only treatment for this disease is supportive. Careful management of fluid and electrolyte balance is critical. Prior to advent of clinical shock, replacement of plasma albumin may be useful. Heparin has been used to try to prevent DIC, but with doubtful success. Most of the time, it is a waiting game to see if you survive.
