There have been only five known outbreaks among humans: Ebola Zaire (the initial one) in 1976, Ebola Sudan, also in 1976, another Sudan outbreak in 1979, and the Ebola Zaire outbreak in Kikwit in 1995, and the Ebola Zaire outbreak in Gabon. The Ebola Reston outbreak in 1989 and the 1996 Ebola Reston outbreak that happened in Texas affected only monkeys. The Swiss researcher who survived her Ebola Tai infection in Cote d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast) is the only known case of that strain so far.
